NEWTOWN, PA – This Diwali, Guru’s Indian Cuisine in Newtown, PA, invites the Hindu community to partake in a vibrant celebration with a noble cause at its heart. Hosted by Samarth Joshi and his aunt, Priya Trivedi, the event is set to unfold on October 19 from 5 to 10 p.m. at Rafter’s, 101 Friend’s Lane, Newtown. The admission fee of $25 will wholly benefit Guru’s Guardian Angels, a nonprofit organization founded by Priya, dedicated to rescuing stray animals globally.

Diwali, revered as the festival of lights, signifies the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. This year’s festivities aim to extend the festival’s spiritual message into tangible action. The funds raised will contribute to the establishment of a dog sanctuary in Bucks County, envisioned to open in 2025. “I am focusing on building a dog sanctuary in Bucks County in 2025 and am currently searching for a suitable property and raising funds for this endeavor,” Priya shared, reflecting her commitment to this cause.

The celebration promises an array of attractions, including a DJ, dancing, raffles, and a sumptuous buffet showcasing Indian culinary delights. The menu will feature dishes such as tandoori acari paneer, a diverse chaat station, veg biryani with raita, paneer lacha, and traditional Diwali desserts, ensuring a feast for the senses.

Though Priya has passed the ownership of the restaurant to Joshi, she continues to mentor him, while her husband, Ashni “Baba” Kumar, remains the executive chef, preserving the culinary legacy of Guru’s Indian Cuisine.

Priya expressed her hopes for the event, saying, “I hope the community will come together to celebrate not only the Festival of Lights but also the spirit of giving and community. Our goal is to make Diwali memorable by spreading joy, sharing blessings, and contributing to a brighter future for everyone.”
