Centinel Spine Reaches Milestone with 7,500 Cervical Disc Replacements

Centinel Spine

WEST CHESTER, PA — Centinel Spine®, LLC has announced a significant milestone in the field of spine surgery, having completed 7,500 cases using their prodisc C Vivo and prodisc C SK Cervical Total Disc Replacement (TDR) System in the United States. This achievement comes just two years after the limited commercial launch of these technologies in September 2022.

The prodisc C Vivo and prodisc C SK are key components of Centinel Spine’s Match-the-Disc™ System, offering surgeons the ability to select the most appropriate implant for each patient’s unique anatomy. Nearly 800 spine surgeons across the U.S. have adopted this system, with a notable 75% being repeat users and many converting from competing technologies.

Dr. Ryan DenHaese, a neurosurgeon with Axis Neurosurgery & Spine in Williamsville, NY, praised the versatility and design of the system. “Centinel Spine utilized knowledge from years of clinical experience with prodisc—the most implanted total disc replacement technology in the world—and designed the next generation of versatile cervical disc devices,” he said. He highlighted the benefits of the keeled prodisc C SK and the non-keeled prodisc C Vivo, emphasizing their adaptability to match patient needs.

CEO Steve Murray of Centinel Spine marked the milestone as a testament to the value of providing anatomic choice to spine surgeons. He noted, “This milestone demonstrates the significance of providing anatomic choice to the spine surgeon. Similar to what’s evolved in hip, knee, and shoulder joint replacement surgery, spine surgeons are increasingly choosing proven, safe, effective, durable, and anatomically differentiated implants for their patients.” Murray pointed out a growing trend toward motion preservation over traditional fusion surgery, backed by Level I clinical evidence supporting the benefits of TDR.
