SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that nighttime construction activities will continue next week on Interstate 476, affecting travel and safety improvements across Delaware and Montgomery counties.
From Monday, September 23, through Wednesday, September 25, drivers will encounter a lane closure on northbound I-476 between the Baltimore Pike (Exit 3) and U.S. 1 (Exit 5) interchanges due to the installation of Variable Speed Limit (VSL) systems.
Additionally, from September 23 to September 27, lane closures will occur on sections of northbound and southbound I-476 between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges for paving and tree trimming. During the same period, closures on eastbound and westbound I-76 near the I-476 Interchange will facilitate bridge repair work.
These efforts are part of a $63.7 million initiative to enhance nearly 17 miles of the interstate, as well as a $10.4 million project aimed at managing congestion with VSL and Queue Warning systems over 14.5 miles.
