WEST GOSHEN TWP, PA — Construction is underway on U.S. 322 (West Chester Bypass) to address significant roadway embankment erosion. This $2.2 million project, managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), focuses on repairing damage between the Penn Drive overpass and Phoenixville Pike.
The work, scheduled from September 3 to September 24, involves a weekday lane closure on the westbound side from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Drivers should expect delays and plan for additional travel time. These activities depend on favorable weather.
Prompted by erosion from Hurricane Ida in 2021, the project includes constructing a 150-foot retaining wall to stabilize the slope, reconstructing the shoulder, and enhancing stormwater drainage. The initiative also replaces guiderail and installs riprap for scour protection, ensuring long-term roadway safety.
