YORK, PA — The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is set to reveal the final conceptual plans for the ecological restoration and site improvements at Susquehanna Riverlands State Park. The announcement came from State Parks Director John Hallas, who emphasized the importance of public engagement in the planning process.

The public information meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 31, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the Eastern York High School Auditorium in Wrightsville. During the meeting, attendees will receive an overview of the master planning process and the final design concepts for the park.

The event aims to foster community involvement, allowing participants to interact with DCNR staff in smaller groups after the presentation. This format encourages a more personalized discussion, providing a platform for attendees to ask questions and offer feedback.

Leading up to this meeting, the Department has actively sought public input to shape the park’s future. In February, preliminary design concepts were presented at a public information meeting, where feedback was collected. Additionally, DCNR held meetings with resource and cultural stakeholders and conducted a public survey to gather broader public opinions.

These efforts underline the Department’s commitment to creating a master plan that balances land conservation and stewardship with recreational opportunities and amenities. The final design aims to enhance the ecological health of Susquehanna Riverlands State Park while providing visitors with a range of activities.

Director Hallas expressed optimism about the upcoming meeting, stating, “We are excited to share the final plans with the community and look forward to their continued involvement in this important project.”
