MONTGOMERY TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the removal of a large overhead sign structure, which will close the Five-Points Intersection at Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike), Route 463 (Horsham Road/Cowpath Road), and Business U.S. 202 (Doylestown Road) in Montgomery Township.
On Sunday, August 4, the intersection will be closed to through traffic from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning. This closure is essential for the sign removal, part of PennDOT’s $14.2 million project to enhance travel and safety at this busy juncture.
During the closure, motorists will face the following detours:
- Southbound Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) will detour west on Broad Street, then east on Main Street/Welsh Road (Route 63) back to Route 309.
- Northbound Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) will detour north on the U.S. 202 Bypass, then north on County Line Road back to Route 309.
- Westbound Horsham Road (Route 463) will detour north on the U.S. 202 Bypass, then north on County Line Road to Business 202 (Doylestown Road).
- Eastbound Cowpath Road (Route 463) will detour west on Broad Street, then east on Main Street/Welsh Road (Route 63) back to Route 309.
- Southbound Business 202 (Doylestown Road) will detour east on County Line Road, then north on the U.S. 202 Bypass to Route 309.
Motorists should expect traffic backups and delays while traveling near the area. PennDOT advises allowing extra travel time. The schedule is subject to weather conditions.
