RADNOR, PA — Avantor, Inc. (NYSE: AVTR) has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, showcasing significant strides made in 2023 across its four sustainability pillars: People & Culture, Innovation & Environment, Community Engagement, and Governance & Integrity.
Avantor’s “Science for Goodness” platform forms the bedrock of its business strategy, emphasizing the company’s commitment to creating a healthier world. “We are pleased with the progress we have made and remain committed to creating a better, healthier world,” said Michael Stubblefield, President and CEO of Avantor.
The report outlines several key achievements:
People & Culture: Avantor earned top marks on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2023 Corporate Equality Index, which measures corporate policies related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. One-quarter of Avantor’s associates participated in Associate-Centric Teams (ACTs), initiatives that promote inclusion and respect by giving employees a platform to share their voices and understand diverse perspectives.
Innovation & Environment: Avantor surpassed its 2025 emissions reduction target two years early, cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 16.7 percent from 2019 to 2023. With this milestone achieved, the company set new 2030 goals: a 50 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 25 percent reduction in Scope 3 emissions from 2020 levels.
Community Engagement: The Avantor Foundation granted over $1.2 million in 2023 to support healthcare services and STEM education in underserved communities. Additionally, Avantor associates contributed nearly 10,000 volunteer hours to various global organizations aligning with the company’s mission.
Governance & Integrity: Avantor introduced its Responsible Supplier Program in 2023 to enhance supplier performance in climate change, human rights, resource circularity, and nature conservation. The program enrolled over 340 suppliers, representing 45 percent of Avantor’s supplier spend.
