Cecil College Celebrates Student Achievements at Annual Completion Ceremony

NORTH EAST, MDCecil College recently honored the accomplishments of its students during the annual Continuing Education and Workforce Development Completion Ceremony. The event celebrated the achievements of 49 program completers and GED graduates, drawing nearly 400 attendees including family, friends, and community supporters.

Kimberly Justus, Executive Director of the Susquehanna Workforce Network, served as the keynote speaker. Her inspiring address resonated deeply with everyone present. “On behalf of the entire Cecil College community, I am honored to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all our GED graduates and Workforce program completers,” said Cecil College President Dr. Mary Way Bolt. “These accomplishments mark a significant milestone in their educational journey.”

The ceremony featured heartfelt reflections from three distinguished students. Christian Contreras shared his journey through the GED program, highlighting his challenges and triumphs. Cadance Kilgus discussed her experiences in the Health Career Certificate (HCC) program, offering insights into her educational path. Chad Thomas reflected on his progress in the Workforce Development (WF) program, specifically Marine Technology, emphasizing the transformative impact of the program on his life.

Carolyn Fletcher, Director of Adult Education, explained the significance of the Award of Excellence and the Award of Perseverance & Determination within the Continuing Education and Workforce Development framework. Together with Tammie Houck and Amanda Pringle, she recognized the award recipients for their dedication and outstanding performance.

Dr. Miles Dean remarked, “This ceremony celebrates our students’ hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Each of them has demonstrated exceptional commitment to their education and personal growth. We are proud of their achievements and excited for their future endeavors.”

The event concluded with a reception where attendees celebrated and congratulated the graduates. Cecil College remains dedicated to providing high-quality education and training programs that equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for success in their careers and personal lives.
