WEST CHESTER, PA — On Monday, October 23, Keystone Volvo employees delivered a remarkable donation of 300 brand-new winter coats to the West Chester Area School District (WCASD) in support of the annual Driving Away the Cold campaign, which has been a heartwarming tradition since its inception in 2008.
As colder temperatures begin to set in, WCASD Home and School Visitors meticulously sorted through the assortment of sizes and colors of these cozy coats to prepare them for distribution among economically disadvantaged students within the district.
“We consider it a privilege to collaborate with Keystone Volvo,” emphasized Patricia Alston, Social Worker Coordinator at WCASD. “Equipping our students in need with brand-new winter coats enables them to step into school, fully prepared to learn and to embrace the winter season, free from concerns about essential warmth.” Within the WCASD, nearly 19 percent of the approximately 12,000 students are considered economically disadvantaged.
“For 16 years Keystone Volvo has participated in the Auto Dealers Caring for Kids Foundation New Coat Program, and is proud to help the children of need in West Chester,” expressed Keystone Volvo’s General Manager, Benjamin Stein.
This generous initiative, Driving Away the Cold, is coordinated by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation. Over the past 16 years, almost 180 Greater Philadelphia auto dealers, including Keystone Volvo, have joined forces to provide more than 575,000 coats to those in need.
