Philadelphia Man Arrested for Attempted Firearm Purchase

WEST CHESTER, PA — In November 2022, the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department CID launched an investigation into an attempted firearm purchase by an individual legally prohibited from doing so. The investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Richard Woodson of Philadelphia.

Fast forward to October 21, 2023, when the Police Department received information that Woodson was detained in Delaware County. He was later transported to Philadelphia. On November 2, 2023, the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department CID traveled to Philadelphia to serve the warrant.

Woodson was then transported to Chester County Prison, where he remained until his arraignment. The charges laid against him include one count of sale or transfer of firearms and unsworn falsification to authorities.

The incident is filed under police report ID# WE-22-13274. The arrest and arraignment both occurred on November 2, 2023. Woodson’s bail has been set at $25,000.
