WEST CHESTER, PA — Sean Timothy Mayfield, a 29-year-old man from Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, has been taken into custody by the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department on charges of making a materially false statement to purchase a firearm and unsworn falsification to authorities.

The arrest comes after an investigation that began on July 8, 2022, when the police were alerted to an attempted purchase of a Hi-Point pistol at a Federal Firearms Licensed Dealer in East Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The investigation revealed that Mayfield was prohibited from purchasing the firearm, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Mayfield was taken into custody on November 6, 2023, following his transfer from the Maryland prison system, where he was held on unrelated charges. A preliminary hearing date regarding the current charges has been set for the near future.

Information, a criminal complaint, or an arrest is not a declaration of guilt. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
