Pennsylvania State Police Arrest Wanted Man for 2019 Attempted Homicide

PHILADELPHIA, PA — After more than four years on the run, 20-year-old Samuel Irizarry was arrested by the Pennsylvania State Police on Friday, November 3, 2023. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in a case dating back to a shooting incident that occurred on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia in 2019.

Irizarry was wanted for attempted homicide and other related charges stemming from the 2019 shooting incident. The charges leveled against him include an attempt to commit criminal homicide, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, and tampering with evidence, among other related charges.

The shooting incident occurred on Interstate 95 Southbound around mile marker 22.6 in the City and County of Philadelphia at approximately 10:35 p.m. on February 20, 2019. The warrant for Irizarry’s arrest was issued by the Pennsylvania State Police out of Philadelphia on September 24, 2021.

This arrest comes after extensive investigative work by the Pennsylvania State Police and their law enforcement partners. The State Police continue to urge the public to report any information related to ongoing investigations.
