Three Arrested Following Stolen Vehicle Pursuit in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — Three individuals, including two juveniles, were arrested by the Uniformed Services Division of the Wilmington Police Department after a vehicle chase and subsequent foot pursuit on October 25.

According to the criminal complaint, around 7:34 p.m., officers patrolling the area of Lower Beech Street and Maryland Avenue spotted a stolen motor vehicle. When they attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, the vehicle sped off, leading to a pursuit that ended in the vicinity of Route 141 and I-95.

At this location, three male subjects, identified as 20-year-old Clyde Penny, a 17-year-old male juvenile, and a 16-year-old male juvenile, abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. Following a brief chase, all three were apprehended without further incident.

The suspects have been charged with the following offenses:

  • Clyde Penny has been charged with Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
  • The 17-year-old male has been charged with Resisting Arrest. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, he was sent to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center pending further proceedings on an unrelated matter.
  • The 16-year-old male has also been charged with Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center pending further proceedings on an unrelated matter.
