PENNSYLVANIA — Attorney General Michelle Henry announced the arrest of two men on Monday, following a successful collaboration between the Pennsylvania State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The suspects, Leroy Williams and Ryan Hofer, were found to be allegedly trafficking 50,000 pills that were initially thought to be oxycodone but were later identified as pure fentanyl.

Investigators intercepted the operation in Delaware County, where the duo was allegedly transporting the pills from Arizona to Pennsylvania. Charges filed against Williams and Hofer include possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity, and criminal use of a communication facility.

Attorney General Henry commended the law enforcement agencies for their diligence. “These alleged traffickers were caught with enough poison to have caused devastation across the Commonwealth,” she stated. She further highlighted the tireless efforts of the Drug Strike Force and Bureau of Narcotics Investigations teams, who have seized hundreds of thousands of pure fentanyl pills this year.

At the time of his arrest, Williams was under federal supervision and is currently being held at Delaware County Prison on $800,000 bail. Hofer is also at Delaware County Prison, with a cash bail set at $500,000.

Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris expressed pride in the joint operation’s success. “The Pennsylvania State Police and our law enforcement partners work hard to keep the residents of Pennsylvania safe from dangerous drugs like fentanyl,” he said.

All charges are accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Deputy Attorney General Karin Judge will prosecute the case.
