HARRISBURG, PA — Attorney General Michelle Henry announced that Caleb Schweikarth, of Bedford County, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young child, beginning when the child was just seven years old.

On Friday, a Bedford County jury found Schweikarth, 39, guilty of indecent assault and corruption of minors.  He will be sentenced on January 16, 2024.

“The defendant was found guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young child who knew and trusted him,” Attorney General Henry said. “He used that relationship to take advantage of and prey upon a vulnerable child. My office takes our obligation to protect children very seriously and will fight to safeguard all young people from sexual abuse and exploitation.”

According to testimony, the defendant had a close relationship with the victim and her family, allowing him to be alone with the child, unsupervised, for extended periods of time. Schweikarth committed the abuse while alone with the child in her family home.

This case is being prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Joseph Sembrot.
