MALVERN, PA — U.P. Association of Greater Philadelphia is excited to announce its upcoming celebration event for Holi, the Hindu festival of colors. The sold-out event with an expected attendance of 350+ participants will take place on April 15th, 2023, at West Goshen Park. This event will feature a range of activities and entertainment that highlight the rich cultural heritage of Holi including live dhol, DJ, performances from participants of all ages and lively dancing.
Holi is a time-honored tradition that has been celebrated by Hindus around the world for generations. This festival marks the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. Holi is known for its colorful celebrations, with participants applying colored powder (gulal) and throwing colored water at each other as a sign of joy and unity. The event will showcase the diversity and beauty of Holi and offer an opportunity for people from all backgrounds to come together and celebrate.
“We are thrilled to bring the community together to celebrate Holi and share in the joy and unity the festival represents” said UPAGP president, Mrs. Ila Awasthi. “Our organization is dedicated to preserving and promoting culture and traditions of the Indian diaspora, and this event is an opportunity for us to celebrate the contributions of the immigrant Indian community to our society.”
In addition to music, dance, and the celebration with gulal, the event will feature food and delicacies from India. The event will also provide an opportunity for attendees to learn more about UPAGP and its mission.
