Trail Creek Outfitters Race Series Returns, Focuses on Fundraising for Local Conservation Groups

TCO Run for Conservation

GLEN MILLS, PA — Trail Creek Outfitters announced the return of its annual race series after a three-year hiatus. The popular race series, which has been newly rebranded as the Run for Conservation, will offer participants not only three competitive races, but will also serve as a fundraiser for local conservation nonprofits.

The nonprofits include Brandywine Red Clay Alliance in West Chester, PA, The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County in Avondale, PA, and the Friends of First State National Historical Park in Wilmington, DE. Each run will be hosted on or near the properties of each nonprofit, all of which conduct land conservation efforts in the Brandywine Valley region.

The first run is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 6, at Brandywine Red Clay Alliance in West Chester. The second run is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, at Stateline Woods Preserve in Kennett Square. The third run is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 2, at Big Bend in Chadds Ford.

While the event has traditionally been a series of competitive races, this year both runners and walkers are encouraged to sign up in celebration of conservation. Participants will enjoy scenic five-mile courses throughout beautiful trails within Chester County and will be eligible to win prizes. Top performers in their age groups will be recognized during an award ceremony at each race.

Trail Creek Outfitters is also offering participants another way to win by hosting a fundraising competition. Starting in March, registered participants are invited to raise money for the nonprofits until October. Those who raise $250 or more will be eligible to be entered into a drawing to win a prize pack from leading outdoor brands including Patagonia, The North Face, Altra, Cotopaxi, Smartwool, Hydro Flask, and more. There are six prize packs total, and each is valued at hundreds of dollars. The top performers from each age group will also be entered to win. The winners will be announced at Trail Creek’s Finish Line event on October 13.

“The month of March marks our 39th anniversary in business serving Chester County and the surrounding area,” said Ed Camelli, Trail Creek co-founder and co-owner. “We’ve always been guided by two principles: One: to promote the enjoyment of the outdoors by providing quality clothing, footwear, and equipment. Two: to give back to the community that has kept us in business all these years. The 2022 Race Series embodies both of these principles, and we’re excited to invite our community to these runs to have fun, give back, and win some prizes.”
