OXFORD, PA — The Oxford Police Department announced the arrest of James R. Allen, 50, of Cochranville, on allegations of misappropriating over $6,000 meant for a local youth softball team. The arrest, which took place on April 24, 2024, at an Oxford High School sporting event, followed an extensive investigation launched in April 2022 after several donors raised concerns about their contributions.

According to the police, Allen was responsible for managing funds collected through donations and fundraisers intended to purchase equipment and cover operational fees for the youth softball team. These funds were raised during events held at the Oxford Redmans Hall in September 2021 and March 2022, with assurances that all proceeds would benefit the team.

Despite repeated attempts by the Oxford Police to interview Allen throughout their investigation, and a demand letter from the victims in April 2022, Allen reportedly failed to respond or account for the misused funds. This led to the issuance of a felony arrest warrant by the Oxford District Court on April 23, 2024.

Allen faces charges of theft by failure to make the required disposition of funds and receiving stolen property. Following his arrest, he was processed at the Oxford Police Department and subsequently taken to Chester County Prison.

The police have expressed gratitude towards the Oxford Area School District Police for their assistance in the arrest and emphasized that the investigation remains active. They encourage anyone with information related to the case to come forward and contact the Oxford Police Department at 610-268-3171.

It is important to note that the charges against Allen are allegations. Under the law, he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
