CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced upcoming nighttime resurfacing operations that are poised to affect traffic flow on Route 796 (Jennersville Road) in New London and Londonderry townships. Motorists navigating this stretch from Sunday, May 5, through Thursday, May 9, should brace for slowdowns and disruptions.

The scheduled lane closure will take place between Route 896 (Newark Road) and Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike), from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning. This work period is strategically chosen to minimize impact during peak daylight travel times, yet travelers are cautioned to expect delays and are advised to allocate extra time when passing through the designated work zones.

This initiative is part of PennDOT’s broader efforts to enhance road safety and driving conditions across the state. The scheduled milling and paving operations are essential components of roadway maintenance, aiming to repair existing surfaces and lay down new asphalt pavement. Such improvements are crucial for sealing the roadways against the elements and providing a safer, smoother ride for all motorists.

Given the inevitability of traffic slowdowns during these operations, drivers are encouraged to plan their travels accordingly. Adjustments to usual routes or departure times may be necessary to circumvent the anticipated congestion. All planned activities are contingent upon favorable weather conditions, and adjustments may occur as needed.
