SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA —The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing stormwater management across the Philadelphia region. With a budget of $14.9 million, the project targets upgrades to stormwater facilities on over 90 state highways within Delaware and Montgomery counties, among others.

Scheduled to commence on Monday, April 22, and run through Friday, April 26, this ambitious effort will see lane closures from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at several key locations. Motorists traveling southbound on U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Hillman Drive in Chadds Ford and Concord townships, Delaware County, will encounter disruptions due to stormwater replacement works.

Similarly, lane closures for paving will affect Evergreen Road between Linfield Road and Lightcap Road in Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships, Montgomery County. Additionally, Cedar Grove Road between Joshua Road and East Hector Street in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County, will also see closures for stormwater replacement activities.

Drivers are urged to plan additional travel time to navigate these areas, as the construction activities are expected to result in significant backups and delays. The execution of this project is contingent on favorable weather conditions, meaning schedules may adjust in response to meteorological changes.

Highway Materials, Inc., based in Flourtown, Montgomery County, has been selected as the general contractor for this extensive project, which is entirely funded by state resources.
