HBO Filming Leads to Temporary Closure of Beaver Dam Road in Chadds Ford Township

Traffic Restrictions

CHADDS FORD, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a temporary road closure in Chadds Ford Township, Delaware County, to accommodate an HBO filming project. Beaver Dam Road will be closed to traffic from 6:00 AM on Thursday, April 25, to 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 27, marking a significant, albeit temporary, shift in the daily commutes of local residents and travelers.

The closure, spanning from Brandywine Creek Road to Beaver Valley Road, is set to facilitate the filming activities of HBO, a major television network known for its high-quality productions. During this period, motorists are directed to a detour route that includes Brandywine Creek Road, Route 92 (Ramsey Road), and Beaver Valley Road. PennDOT urges drivers to plan for additional travel time due to expected delays and backups in the vicinity of the filming area.

The decision to close a section of Beaver Dam Road, while necessary for the safety and security of the film crew and the public, highlights the delicate balance local authorities must strike between accommodating high-profile projects and maintaining public access and convenience. PennDOT’s coordination with HBO and local officials aims to minimize disruption, but the event serves as a reminder of the complex planning involved in hosting large-scale productions.

As the filming proceeds, the community may experience not only the inconvenience of detours and delays but also the unique opportunity to witness the behind-the-scenes workings of a television production. Nevertheless,  residents and travelers are encouraged to stay informed about the closure and plan their routes accordingly, keeping in mind that all scheduled activities are subject to change based on weather conditions.
