CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Ensign-Bickord Industries (EBI), an international conglomerate with interests in aerospace, defense, pet food, and agricultural science, has turned to the Boomi Enterprise Platform. Founded in 1836, EBI’s sustained growth necessitated an advanced solution to integrate and automate critical business processes, enhancing operational efficiency and connectivity among its international sites.
EBI’s strategic initiative aimed at reducing costs, boosting productivity, achieving a better work-life balance for employees, and ultimately delivering superior customer experiences. Key projects under this initiative included the automation of the payroll process via integration of Workday and ADP systems, connecting the IFS enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with the Equans manufacturing execution system (MES) to bolster shop floor operations, and establishing a daily data pipeline from SAP Concur for travel and expense (T&E) reporting—a significant upgrade from the previous manual, monthly process.
Brendan Kehoe, CIO of Ensign-Bickford Industries Inc., highlighted the transformational impact of the Boomi platform on the company’s operations. “With Boomi, we’ve been able to connect core systems and automate workflows to drive operational efficiency in areas like manufacturing, finance, and human resources,” Kehoe stated. This technological leap forward has equipped EBI to continue its trajectory of growth and expansion while adhering to its foundational values.
Prior to adopting Boomi, EBI grappled with the inefficiencies of legacy processes that hindered timely financial tracking and demanded over 100 hours of manual labor annually just for T&E data management. The shift to Boomi’s platform enabled EBI to overcome these challenges, achieving remarkable improvements including a 75% reduction in potential failure points and a 95% decrease in manual labor for T&E data processing. The integration also completely eliminated the manual effort previously required before loading T&E data into IFS.
The successful implementation of Boomi’s solutions has not only facilitated cost savings and enhanced productivity for EBI but also led to notable advancements in employee satisfaction and customer service. Furthermore, the integration with Workday and ADP payroll systems has significantly minimized errors and reduced the time investment required from finance and HR departments, mirroring the positive outcomes anticipated from EBI’s broader objectives to automate and refine business processes.
