Doylestown Intersection to See Roundabouts in Safety Upgrade

road work - traffic alert

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced ongoing construction efforts aimed at enhancing road safety in Doylestown Township, Bucks County. A significant aspect of this initiative includes the introduction of roundabouts at a crucial intersection, marking a substantial step towards reducing traffic congestion and accidents.

Starting Tuesday, April 30, Easton Road will experience a 24-hour lane reduction at its intersection with New Britain Road. Motorists are cautioned to expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes including Lower State Road, U.S. 202, and Easton Road. The completion of these construction activities is dependent on suitable weather conditions.

The project centers around constructing two single-lane roundabouts at the Easton Road intersection with New Britain Road/Sauerman Road. This structural modification is designed not only to improve traffic flow but also to significantly enhance pedestrian safety. The new roundabouts will feature updated drainage systems, sidewalks adhering to ADA standards, designated bicycle facilities, improved lighting, and a full-depth pavement reconstruction.

James D. Morrissey, Inc., a Philadelphia-based firm, has been entrusted as the general contractor for this $3.9 million endeavor. Notably, the project is funded entirely by federal resources.
