PITTSBURGH, PA — Michael Hunsinger, 58, of Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 108 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release. The sentencing, carried out on April 10, 2024, by United States Senior District Judge Arthur J. Schwab, comes after Hunsinger pleaded guilty to charges of possessing with intent to distribute significant amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts by federal and local law enforcement agencies to curb the distribution of illegal substances. Methamphetamine, a powerful central nervous system stimulant, and cocaine, a highly addictive drug derived from coca leaves, are known for their destructive impact on individuals and communities alike.

The charges stem from an operation on June 3, 2022, when the Castle Shannon Police Department, under a narcotics investigation, executed a search warrant at Hunsinger’s home. The search led to the seizure of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine along with a quantity of cocaine, revealing the scale of Hunsinger’s involvement in drug trafficking.

Assistant United States Attorney Nicole Stockey represented the government in the prosecution, which underscores the commitment of the United States Attorney’s Office to combat the spread of narcotics. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan praised the collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Castle Shannon Police Department, which was instrumental in bringing Hunsinger to justice.
