PITTSBURGH, PA — Robert Carpenter Jr., a 39-year-old resident of Beaver Falls, has been sentenced to a decade in prison following his convictions on charges of drug trafficking and possessing firearms in connection with that crime. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan handed down the sentence, which marks a significant penalty for Carpenter’s involvement in the illegal distribution of controlled substances and the utilization of firearms to further his illicit activities.

The case against Carpenter unfolded when the Beaver Falls Police Department, acting on a search warrant, raided an apartment linked to him on July 25, 2022. The search led to the discovery of significant quantities of narcotics in the master bedroom, including 41.65 grams of crack cocaine, 6.74 net grams of cocaine, and 30 pills mixed with fentanyl and fluorofentanyl, alongside Carpenter’s identification and two digital scales. The operation also uncovered two stolen firearms: a 9mm caliber handgun and a 5.56 caliber semiautomatic rifle, both loaded. Notably, the semiautomatic rifle was equipped with a 30-round capacity magazine and featured an altered serial number, complicating efforts to trace its origin.

Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna represented the government in the prosecution of this case, leading to Carpenter’s conviction and subsequent sentencing.

In addition to recognizing the diligent work of the Beaver Falls Police Department, United States Attorney Olshan lauded the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their critical role in the investigation. Together, these agencies have contributed to a successful outcome in a case that underscores the serious nature of drug trafficking combined with the unlawful possession of firearms.
