WEST CHESTER, PA — The YMCA of Greater Brandywine has welcomed Dave Mullin as the new Executive Director of its pioneering YMCA Pickleball Center at Downingtown. This facility is distinct as the first YMCA center dedicated exclusively to pickleball, a sport enjoying a surge in popularity across the United States.

Mullin, with a solid two-decade track record at various YMCAs, including roles in Maryland’s YMCA of the Chesapeake and the Greater Philadelphia YMCA, brings a wealth of experience in community programming and health and wellness initiatives. A graduate in Health and Exercise Science from the University of Delaware, his career has been marked by a commitment to fostering communities through sports and recreational activities.

Pickleball, known for its inclusive nature and ability to build robust social networks among players, aligns perfectly with Mullin’s vision for community engagement. He expressed enthusiasm for introducing newcomers to pickleball through the YMCA’s Intro to Pickleball clinics, emphasizing the sport’s role in enhancing both physical and social well-being.

Beyond his responsibilities in overseeing the pickleball programs, Mullin is driven by a broader mission to support individuals in achieving their fullest potential, reflecting on the integral role of mental and spiritual health in one’s overall fitness. With programs designed for varied levels of play, including specialized clinics for youth and adaptive pickleball for adults with disabilities, Mullin aims to ensure the YMCA remains a welcoming place for all community members.

Under Mullin’s leadership, the YMCA Pickleball Center at Downingtown is set to become a hub for health, wellness, and community in the Greater Brandywine area, positioning the YMCA as a leader in offering innovative and inclusive sporting programs that address the holistic needs of its members.
