KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Longwood Gardens, renowned in the field of horticulture education, has selected five accomplished professionals for its esteemed Longwood Gardens Fellows Program for the 2024-25 session. The program, known for developing global leaders in horticulture since 1967, welcomes Laurel Dunning from California, Vânia Pereira from Florida, Anastasia Sallen also from Florida, E. Yvette Weaver from New York, and Clare Shearman from New Zealand, starting in June.

Sharon Thompsonowak, the program’s director, expressed excitement about the new cohort, noting their diverse backgrounds and the unique perspectives they bring. The Fellows Program is designed as a 13-month, fully funded residency at Longwood, providing an immersive learning experience in leadership, organizational dynamics, and horticulture management. A key component includes a two-month field placement, allowing fellows to tackle real-world challenges and prepare for high-impact roles in public horticulture.

The program aims to cultivate leaders ready to advance public horticulture worldwide. Ideal candidates possess at least five years of experience in relevant fields and demonstrate a commitment to leadership positions within the sector. Longwood encourages applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and those transitioning from other sectors into horticulture.
