PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The pulse of Phoenixville’s entertainment beats in the heart of The Colonial Theatre, the historic hub that has been serving the community since 1902. This old-timer, though aged, vibrantly redefines entertainment, reflecting its rich cinematic past and eagerly embracing a bright future.

This year, the curtain rises on the Colonial’s eagerly-anticipated spring and summer season, inviting audiences to savor its classic offerings and novel experiences. From the 25th annual Blobfest to Pride Month and Juneteenth film screenings, there is an event programmed for every taste and interest. Cultural fests, live performances, and nostalgic late-night immersive experiences – the Colonial is set to handle them all.

A peek into history reveals that this theatre, originally the Colonial Opera House, has withstood time and testified countless epochal events – two World Wars, the Great Depression, and the age of technology. Besides hosting live shows by the likes of Harry Houdini and Mary Pickford, this national treasure found a niche in Hollywood, featuring in the 1958 sci-fi horror classic The Blob.

Today, the Colonial, with its charismatic 1903 Theatre, White Rabbit Theatre, and Berry Theatre, offers a stunning blend of the old and the new. Guests are taken on a journey down memory lane, walking the same aisles the greats once tread. Yet, the theatres are equipped with state-of-the-art 2k digital projection, offering a contemporary cinematic experience.

In the days to come, the Colonial’s most anticipated event, the 25th Blobfest, from July 12 to 14, will see fans flock in the hundreds. This weekend-long tribute to Steve McQueen’s classic, The Blob, will feature screenings, live performances, special engagements, and even a Blobfest Street Fair. The excitement culminates with the 7th Annual Blobfest 5k, 10k, and the newly added Half Marathon, wrapping up with classic film screenings.

But the fun doesn’t stop with Blobfest. The Colonial stretches its offering beyond cinema to live music, concerts, and late-night entertainment. The Colonial 54 returns after its inaugural success in April, paying tribute to the glitz and glamour of 1970s New York. Also, Hush, the immersive 1920s-themed speakeasy experience, is slated for a return in June.

After a fantastic Pride Month series of presentations of five iconic LGBTQIA+ films, Phoenixville’s Colonial Theatre is all geared up to join the Phoenixville community in celebrating Juneteenth with a special screening of Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte’s 1972 western Buck and the Preacher.

Capping off the season with Exhumed Films and the Colonial’s Beyond Re-Animator: A Jeffery Combs Retrospective – With Jeffrey Combs Live!, the theatre will host genre cinema icon Jeffrey Combs, marking a weekend of horror and sci-fi masterpieces.

In short, the Colonial Theatre is the place to be this spring and summer season. With its unwavering commitment to creating a resounding, enriching experience for its community, this historic theatre is set to be a beacon of entertainment in Phoenixville for years to come.
